Free software licences

Free software is software licensed and distributed in compliance with GPL licences, in such a way that anyone can use, copy, distribute or modify it, for free or for pay. This means that the source code must always be made available. GPL licences also include a viral clause, based on which each party that creates derivatives works from free software must comply with the terms of the original GPL licence when intending to further distribute the original program and the derivative program and, as a result, guarantee subsequent users the same original conditions of use.

The term “open source” is often used with the same meaning as free software, though it does not exactly constitute the same category of software because it is subject to different, more restrictive terms. The use of these software programs is more common than it is thought: for example, think of the massive use of WordPress by digital agencies to create websites.

The firm assists companies that fully or partially base their businesses on software licensed through GPL licenses, or through open source licenses. It provides consulting, including for the creation of integrated solutions that exploit free software in conjunction with proprietary software or create derivative works from programs licensed through GPL licenses.
